Situated in the north west of the island the Municipality of Icod de los Vinos stretches from the pine forests on the mountain slopes down through fertile valleys to the sea. A lush and varied landscape surrounded by banana plantations and vineyards.
There is a beautiful beach at Playa de San Marcos with a good selection of sea front restaurants. The town of Icod itself is steeped in history dating back to 1501. It has palaces, churches and convents to visit and is home to the Ancient Dragon Tree-said to be thousands of years old.
Nearby Garachico was once Tenerife's busiest port dating back to 1496. For 200 years ships set sail with their produce including sugar and wine. Then in 1706 a volcanic eruption buried much of the town and harbour. The harbour was never to fully recover but the local inhabitants rebuilt much of the town and today these same buildings, squares and cobbled narrow streets make Garachico a fascinating and beautiful place to visit.

Golf: The Buenavista Golf course is 10 miles(16km) from Buen Paso. Designed by the great Seve Ballesteros the course was opened in 2003. It is an 18 hole par 72 course with a modern clubhouse, pro shop, golf school and Spa. Bookings can be made on line via the website link

Platos Combinados and good selection of fish (hake, cherne and sole) and meat dishes. They offer a very good value menu of the day.

Beautiful setting right on the sea front. Incredible value as well. We had sole at just €7.50 including canarian potatoes (January 2013) Also known locally for their pizzas. Good house wine. |
